In 2013 I was filming some bands play an unspecified unofficial Sled Island venue when police arrived at the door. Calgary was about to flood and we were below the floodplain. We had to go, now. One of the concert goers who lived on higher ground opened their home to the two final acts of the night. It was tense in the house: locals didn't know if their homes were safe, the out-of-towners were mostly billeted by people who were also displaced. We were all trying to contact friends and family through overburdened phone lines without much luck. It was a strange evening, nothing was certain but the show had to go on.
